Fix linter suggestions (#68)

* removed unneeded lifetimes

* removed unneccessary imports

* removed unneccessary return statements

* added derive eq -> linter suggestion

* removed unneccessary references

* made code more concise

* ok_or_else instead of ok_or improves performance -> linter suggestion
